Simply Charlotte Mason Enrichment Studies Volume 3 book list

Volume 3's SCM-sold artists are Giotto, Titian, and Monet. Composers: Liszt, Handel, Schumann. Play: The Taming of the Shrew. Scripture Pack 4. Dickinson for poetry. Same habit, hymn, and nature stack as the other volumes.

New kits versus repeats

Buy the three new picture study portfolios and three new music kits if you do not substitute artists you already own. Keep Laying Down the Rails and the hymn book from earlier years. Enrichment Studies, Volume 3 is the schedule, not a reason to repurchase habits.

Shakespeare in Three Steps for Shrew is a new SCM title if you did Midsummer in Volume 1.

Literature split

Young: Anne of Green Gables (public domain) and A Single Shard (library). Middle: Kidnapped (public domain). Older: Scarlet Letter, Great Expectations, Robinson Crusoe, Pride and Prejudice (public domain), plus library Beowulf and Through Gates of Splendor.

That older list is a full high-school literature year if you narrate it. Do not add a separate lit course unless a transcript requires a named English credit with more writing.

Substitutions: charlotte mason living books. Other programs: charlotte mason curriculum comparison.

Shakespeare and high school credit

SCM recommends Taming of the Shrew for grades 6–12 and says to skip it for younger children. That is a real age cut, unlike Midsummer which they allow from grade 2.

Giotto to Monet is a wide art jump. One artist per term still applies. Do not hang all three in week one.

Beowulf in the Heaney translation is a purchase for most families. Confirm whether your library holds it before you add it to the SCM cart.

Pride and Prejudice is public domain. A cheap print is fine. The narration is the assignment. Shipping $129; returns 60 days (checked 2026-09-06).

The list

Volume 3's SCM-sold core is Giotto, Titian, and Monet; Liszt, Handel, and Schumann; The Taming of the Shrew; Scripture Memory Pack 4; and the same habit, hymn, and nature stack.
